What is our true nature? In a nutshell, at the very core of our being, we are simply love and joy in a body. This is our true nature. How do we know? Because our body sends us cues and messages, through our emotions and physical symptoms that tell us so.
When we feel guilty after being mean to someone, that’s our body’s way of telling us that we have deviated away from our true nature, our inherent goodness which is to be loving and kind. It’s simply our conditioning that causes us to forget this deep inner truth of our being, the fact that deep within our souls, underneath all the little wounds that we’ve accumulated over our lifetime, is a loving being who has the capacity to be pure love and joy itself.
When we feel ‘off’ and not our usual selves because we’re overly stressed or not taking proper care of ourselves (not getting sufficient sleep or exercise, not eating optimally), that’s our body giving us a message that we’re off track or out of balance. When we then take time to look after ourselves, giving our minds, bodies and spirits the loving attention they deserve, and we ground and centre ourselves, we are able to return to a sense of peace and things feel ‘right’ again. And that’s because our true, natural state is love, joy and peace. And when we are able to give that love to ourselves through adequate self-care, we can come back to that inner joy and peace and we can find ourselves thinking, ‘Ah yes, here I am, I’m back’.
Listening to our bodies and our emotions guides us back to our true nature.
