I’ve not delved much into AI but yesterday I spent a few minutes playing with an AI image creator and was astounded at what was produced from a five-word description.

This morning, I was telling my ex-husband (we co-parent) about this as we waited for our 9-year-old to put his shoes on for school and I expressed curiosity as to how creatives feel about this new ability to produce things that they spend hours crafting in the time it takes to have a sip of tea.

Our son piped up, ‘It takes all the fun out of it!’. And there we have it, out of the mouth of babes.

I have no doubt that AI is set to change our lives and the world in ways that we currently can’t imagine, but in our hasty march towards technological advancement, let us not forget the true essence of what it means to be human.

Let us not forget to find pleasure in simply doing the things that bring us joy, even if they take time and might not carry any financial reward.

Let us not forget to enjoy our experience of life.

Let us not forget to have fun.
