HANH TAT

Awakening is a series of little releases,
The relinquishing of parts of our ego that no longer serve us,
The parts that we developed to protect ourselves,
To protect our vulnerable hearts,
Before we were old enough to know a better way to care for ourselves.

And as we awaken to our true nature,
Our eyes open to these beloved parts of us,
We understand their purpose and meaning,
We lovingly embrace them, accept them as precious,
Neither judging nor rejecting them,
Allowing them to be our teachers,
Illuminating where we need to heal and grow.

This is not a rejection nor a destruction of the ego,
Simply a reframing, a befriending,
A decision to make it an ally,
To allow it to stand down the protective parts,
In favour of the more empowering ones.

And as we heal and grow,
We come to see how these parts have become a weighted cloak,
Heavy around our shoulders,
Burdensome for us to wear,
A gown that we have outgrown,
Holding us back,
Hindering our ability to fly,
Stifling our ability to ascend.

So we lovingly, consciously and graciously undo the clasp around our necks,
And allow the cloak to gently fall away,
Like the petals of a flower giving way in order to reveal the fruit,
To be left behind us as we step forward,
Liberated and lighter,
Our hearts and minds expanded,
Into a new dawn, an unknown era of our becoming.
