I posted the following on my LinkedIn account and so it only pertains to men and women. I’m not sure how it applies to other gender definitions:
Something which isn’t widely known is that all humans have masculine and feminine energy irrespective of gender. These energies have certain associated qualities, such as leadership and courage for the masculine, and compassion and collaboration for the feminine.
When these are in balance, they allow men to be in their divine masculine, exhibiting characteristics (eg. leadership and courage) in ways that serve others. When out of balance (such as suppressing emotions and rejecting vulnerability), masculine energy can become toxic and self-serving, causing leadership to become thirst for power and greed, and bravery to become aggression (for instance).
It is this imbalance in energies in favour of the masculine over many centuries that has led to the patriarchy we see in the modern world today and has led power to become corrupted (leading to war) and to greed, where money has, for many, become more valuable than love and care of others.
In some indigenous cultures, the “bird of humanity” prophecy speaks of a bird with two wings (one masculine and one feminine) which emphasises the need for balance in these energies for the bird to soar, for humanity to thrive. Humanity is at a precipice in our history and evolution, and for human evolution to occur, these energies need to be understood and balanced in society.
Men accepting their feminine energies allows them to be in their divine masculine so that they can lead with love and compassion without fear of seeming weak. They can lead from a place of true strength of character, of service and from the heart rather than their egoic minds.
There is work for us women to do too. Many women in the corporate world have understandably had to adopt masculine traits (assertiveness, confidence) typically associated with modern definitions of success to advance, at the expense of their more feminine qualities. Women need to be allowed to express authentically and still be valued in the world.
For change to take place, there needs to be a paradigm shift in collective perceptions and consciousness, for the world to see historically undervalued feminine qualities, such as compassion and kindness, as equally important as masculine ones.
Let’s be clear, this is NOT a case of the devaluing of masculine traits in favour of the feminine. It’s simply allowing both to have equal footing in society. Ultimately, it’s the acceptance of all beings as having equal significance and value.
But evolution takes a long time, most likely beyond our lifetimes. So we sow the seeds of change in our lifetime not in the expectation of harvesting the rewards in OUR lifetimes, but so that HUMANITY can reap them in its lifetime.
Sending love to all beings, men, women and beyond ❤️
