Embracing Our Humanness

I was recently invited to answer the question, “How are you difficult in romantic relationships?”. Initially, I came up with this list:

At times, I can:

  • be stubborn despite my amicable nature.
  • be needy despite my strength.
  • be insecure despite my confidence.
  • still yearn to be held despite my independence.
  • still get triggered despite my inner work.

Afterwards, I realised that these things don’t make me difficult. They make me human.

In a world that sometimes feels judgemental and unforgiving, it can often feel challenging to allow contradictory and nuanced facets of our personality to co-exist.

Yet, by embracing our humanness with love and compassion and radically accepting all parts of ourselves, both shadow and light, we come into the fullness of our true selves.

Embrace your messy humanness with love.
