Live Each Day Like It’s Our First

“The saying goes, ‘Live each day like it’s your last,’ but I prefer to think that we should live each day like it’s our first, where we possess the curiosity of a child, unjaded by the mundanity of adult life, eager to see what we can learn today and keen to appreciate the beauty of nature and those around us. Adopting a beginner’s mind, as per Zen Buddhist philosophy, and a growth mindset allows for an openness and receptiveness to what life offers.”

This is from my book, ‘Life as a Jigsaw Puzzle’, which I wrote just over a year ago and even in the short space of time since then, I have learnt so much more about myself and life through the experiences I’ve had and people I’ve met that I know I will live this way for the rest of my life, because I believe that one of the greatest endeavours in life is to know and love ourselves, embracing our shadows as well as our light, with all our flaws and perfect imperfections, and to allow this to be translated into a wondrous love of life and all of its beautiful offerings and shared with the people we love.
